FIRST TWO YEARS OF NOVEL DRAFTS COMPLETED
The Latest Milestone: Cold Storage First Draft Finished
Today marks a significant achievement in the Warriors of the Last Days universe: the first draft of Cold Storage, the eighth novel in our sprawling Canadian post-apocalyptic series, is now complete. Set in the frozen wilds of Yukon, this Christmas-themed survival horror sees the return of fan-favorite character Edouard Marsh from The Toe, as he teams up with new allies for the longest night of their lives. A mysterious purple aurora descends upon Dawson City, a former Gold Rush town, unleashing waves of insanity upon its residents. Ironically, this chilling tale was written during a heatwave, a stark contrast to its themes of cold, isolation, and the desperate search for warmth.
This means that at least the first draft of the novels scheduled for the first two years are completed!
The Warriors of the Last Days Series: A Nation-Spanning Apocalypse
Our series doesn’t just tell a single story, it weaves a pan-Canadian tapestry of survival, collapse, and human resilience across some of the country’s most iconic and unexpected locations. Here’s where we’ve been, where we’re going, and what’s coming next.
Cycle I: The Montreal Quadrilogy or the Stadium Cycle (Releasing Now)
The first four novels anchor the series in Montreal, Quebec, establishing the foundation of our apocalyptic world:
- The Refusal – Released – The spark that ignites the end.
- The Exodus – Released – Flight from a village on the brink.
- The Drift – Coming September 2026 – Survival on the move.
- The Spark – Coming December 2026 – The first cycle’s explosive conclusion.
Editing Note: All those books are currently written. Each novel takes 2-3 months to edit from first draft to publication. With all first drafts complete, we’re on track to deliver the full cycle by year’s end. So far, The Exodus, the Drift and The Spark compete for the title of favourite of the series.
You can track, in real time, where we are at with all the novels and short stories which we have started working on by checking our Series Progress page.
Year 2: A Mari usque ad Mare Cycle I (All drafts currently completed)
Beyond Montreal, the apocalypse spreads:
| The Last Islands | Set in St-Pierre and Miquelon (just off Newfoundland), this isolated tale explores survival at the edge of the world after teh events of the Light. | St-Pierre & Miquelon |
| Death Row | A harrowing prison break narrative set in Ottawa and Millhaven Maximum Security Prison (Bath, Ontario). | Ottawa, Bath, Ontario |
| The Front | A Saskatoon family on the verge of collapse battles a swarm of mutated locusts in a fight for their lives, a marriage and sanity. | Saskatoon, Saskatchewan |
| Cold Storage | A Yukon Christmas horror where Edouard Marsh faces death and madness under a deadly aurora. | Dawson City, Yukon |
This following cycles are called A Mari usque ad Mare and features two Eastern based novels and Two Western based one in each. This is the first one in that series, so A Mari usque ad Mare I.
All first drafts for the current cycle are now complete. Editing is underway, and we’re exploring ways to accelerate the process. So far, The Front and Cold storage compete for being our favourite novels in this cycle.
These titles complete the first two years of stories cycles.

What’s the Editing Process Like?
Transparency matters. Based on our experience with The Refusal and Exodus, each novel requires 2-3 months of intensive editing to transform a first draft into a polished, publishable work. With eight first drafts now complete, we’re exploring ways to streamline editing without compromising quality. The goal? Get these stories to you faster.
Why This Series Stands Out
Warriors of the Last Days isn’t just another post-apocalyptic series. It’s a love letter to Canada’s diverse landscapes and cultures, re-imagined through the lens of collapse and rebirth. Each novel stands alone as a gripping survival tale, but together, they form a cohesive, nation-spanning epic where every location, character, and event interconnects.
- Authentic Settings: From the urban decay of Montreal to the frozen isolation of Yukon, every book grounds its horror in real Canadian geography.
- Diverse Threats: Whether it’s mutated locusts in Saskatoon, prison riots in Bath, or mysterious auroras in the North, each story offers a unique flavor of apocalypse.
- Character-Driven: At its heart, this is a series about people, their fears, their flaws, and their unbreakable will to survive.

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
