Launching the first book
There are moments where a project stops being an idea and becomes a world.
After years of development, detours, rewrites, and reinvention, Warriors of the Last Days – Book I: THE REFUSAL is no longer in the making. It is ready. It is launching!
We have officially received our ISBNs. That single administrative milestone unlocks everything that follows: distribution, visibility, permanence. The series now exists in the global catalog. And with that, the launching begins.
A Digital-First Release
The first wave of the launching will be entirely digital.
THE REFUSAL will be available in multiple formats to ensure it reaches readers wherever they are:
- ePub editions for direct purchase on our site
- Platform-ready versions for Nook, Kobo, and Apple Books
- A dedicated Kindle edition for Amazon
- A PDF version for readers who prefer a raw, archival format
This approach is deliberate. The world of Warriors of the Last Days is about access, transmission, and survival of information. A digital-first release aligns with that DNA.
Print Editions: Delayed, Not Diminished
The trade paperback and hardcover editions are coming, but slightly later than planned.
Due to the timing of the ISBN issuance, we missed the submission window for print production. Rather than rush the process, we chose to delay by a few weeks to ensure quality, consistency, and proper distribution.
These editions matter. They are not secondary formats, they are artifacts. And they will be treated as such.
EDIT: The trade paperback and hardcover versions of the REFUSAL are launching now!
Expanding the World: Audio in Progress
Work has already begun on two major extensions of the project:
- Audiobook version — a direct, immersive narration of THE REFUSAL
- Audioplay (full cast) — a more ambitious reinterpretation, designed as a cinematic audio experience
This is not just adaptation. It is expansion. Each format explores the story from a different angle, adding depth to the universe rather than simply replicating it.
The Website — launching
The official website is essentially ready to launch.
A final delay has been introduced due to a critical creative decision: the covers for Book I (THE REFUSAL) and Book III have been reworked. The new visual direction is stronger, more aligned with the tone of the series, and worth the wait.
The updated cover for THE REFUSAL:

Early Access: The Lullaby
Before the collapse, there are always fragments.
The Lullaby, a prequel short story, is already complete and available now but only for the first 100 newsletter subscribers.
This early access also includes a video version of the lullaby itself: an atmospheric piece that deepens the mythology of the series. It is not just bonus content. It is an entry point into the world.
What Comes Next
The launch of THE REFUSAL is not a single event. It is a phased deployment:
- Digital release across all major formats
- Website launch and direct sales activation
- Cover reveal and visual identity rollout
- Print editions release: available on the site and via Bookvault. Will be available worldwide very soon.
- Audiobook and audioplay expansion
Each step builds momentum. Each release layer adds texture to the universe.
The Refusal Begins
At its core, THE REFUSAL is not just about survival.
It is about rejection: of systems, of structures, of imposed meaning. It is about choosing movement over safety, uncertainty over control.
This launch mirrors that philosophy. No perfect timing. No ideal conditions. Just forward motion. The world is ready. Now it’s time to enter it.

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
