THE REFUSAL TRAILER

The first descent into the Stadium’s architecture of obedience.

The official The Refusal trailer for Book I of Warriors of the Last Days, introduces a dystopian Montreal shaped by chaos on one side and optimization on the other.

In this speculative systems-fiction novel, collapse did not eliminate institutions, it clarified them. The Stadium governs spectacle. RESO governs arithmetic. Between them stands a population processed, categorized, and refined.

This Refusal trailer offers the first visual descent into that architecture.

Through stark imagery and controlled pacing, the preview presents the series’ defining tension: obedience engineered through infrastructure versus resistance that begins quietly, privately, almost invisibly.

There are no sudden explosions, no cinematic heroics. Instead, viewers encounter corridors, ritual, containment, and the subtle mechanics of structural control. The world of The Refusal is not loud. It is precise.

Set in a post-collapse Montreal, the novel transforms real geography : highways, buried corridors, underground cities, into speculative terrain. Systems move resources. Systems calculate cost. Systems decide who remains visible. The trailer reflects this tone: cold, restrained, and deliberate.

At the center of Book I is Una, a young woman navigating institutions that function as characters in their own right. The Stadium converts faith into procession. RESO converts data into outcome. The tension between spectacle and arithmetic defines the moral landscape of the tetralogy.

For readers of dystopian fiction, speculative fiction, and literary post-apocalyptic narratives, The Refusal offers a distinct approach: structural horror rather than chaos, systemic violence rather than individual villainy. The Refusal trailer captures that distinction without overstating it. What you see is not destruction, it is order refined to its sharpest edge.

This is the beginning of a four-book arc that continues through Exodus, The Drift, and The Spark. The stakes escalate. The systems adapt. Resistance evolves.

Watch The Refusal trailer and enter a world where collapse did not erase power, it optimized it.

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Refusal is the opening novel of the Warriors of the Last Days tetralogy, a dystopian systems-fiction series set in a post-apocalyptic Montreal. In a city where institutions survived by refining themselves, the Stadium governs spectacle and ritual while RESO governs arithmetic beneath the surface. Power does not shout. It calculates.

A warrior holding a spear stands before the overgrown, ruined Olympic Stadium in a post-apocalyptic Montreal.

At the center stands Una, moving through corridors designed to narrow choice into procession. Obedience is framed as stability. Optimization is framed as mercy. Names disappear quietly.

As she begins to question the architecture around her, resistance does not erupt, it fractures the world. The novel explores structural control, engineered belief, and the cost of remaining visible inside systems that process people as variables.

Cold, deliberate, and grounded in real geography transformed into speculative terrain, The Refusal begins a four-book descent into a world reorganized rather than destroyed.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
