Today, we’re excited to unveil one of the project’s most ambitious features: the Story Atlas. The interactive map lets readers explore every location featured in the series. POST-APOCALYPTIC FICTION IN MONTREAL

Post-Apocalyptic STORIES Set in Montreal: From Surréal 3000 to Today Most post-apocalyptic fiction takes place somewhere else. The American Southwest. Small towns in the Midwest. Anonymous ruins that could belong to almost any city. Montreal rarely appears on lists of famous apocalypse settings, yet it may be one of the most naturally suited cities in North America for stories about collapse. It...

THE HEART OF FRANCON

How Émile was born BORN IN EDITING Some characters arrive fully formed. Others have to fight their way into the story. Émile was never supposed to matter this much. In the earliest drafts of Exodus, he was a tertiary character whose primary purpose was practical. He was young, enthusiastic, and knew Francon well enough to explain things to Andy. He appeared in a handful of scenes, provided...

There are not a lot of creatures in Exodus, the second novel, but when they do show up and their presence is definitely felt strongly and impact the story significantly. From the creatures already presented in Book I (Crawfish, Glowers, Roachers) to one of the strangest beings in the entire tetralogy, the Exodus creatures might be few but they are terrifying nonetheless. We do a lot of research...

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
