Behind the Teaser of ‘The Last Protocol’

PROLOGUE TO A PROLOGUE TEASER Some scenes write themselves as film long before anyone points a camera at them. The prologue to Warriors of the Last Days was always one of those scenes. Two men. A bunker. A command that can’t be taken back. I knew from the moment I wrote it that it wanted […]

Forging the Spark TEASER

Making the Teaser That Nearly Broke Us When we began work on the teaser for The Spark, we expected intensity. We did not expect resistance. Book IV of Warriors of the Last Days is about ignition: pressure accumulated over three volumes finally finding flame. It felt only right that its teaser would burn hotter, move faster, strike deeper. Instead, we stalled. The iconic Montreal Olympic Stadium...

Making the Teaser Trailer for The Drift

Why This TEASER Trailer for the Drift Felt Different Of the three teasers we’ve created so far for Warriors of the Last Days, The Drift was the easiest. And the most fun. Not because it was simpler. Because it was looser. You can watch the teaser here: THE DRIFT TRAILER The Refusal required precision. It introduced the philosophy: engineered ritual, structural obedience, institutional control...

Making the Exodus Teaser Trailer

Inside Book II of Warriors of the Last Days When we began building the teaser trailer for Exodus, Book II of Warriors of the Last Days, we knew it had to feel different from The Refusal trailer. Book I was containment: corridors, ritual, engineered obedience. Exodus is movement. You can watch the teaser trailer here: THE EXODUS TRAILER Expanding the World Beyond the Stadium The first trailer...

Designing the Trailer

We Had 90 Seconds to Explain a World That Took Years to Build. When we started designing the first trailer for The Refusal, we faced a problem: How do you explain a philosophy in a minute and a half? Not just a plot. Not just characters. A worldview. Watch it here: THE REFUSAL TRAILER The Ink Was Never Just Ink The spreading black forms in the trailer’s text portions aren’t decoration. They...

CHARACTERS

DISCOVER OUR MAIN CHARACTERS BOOK BY BOOK Across four novels, the story is carried not by archetypes, but by people under pressure. Survivors, believers, strategists, dissenters, enforcers, leaders… Each character enters the world with a history and a fault line. Some are shaped by systems. Some try to master them. Others attempt to dismantle them from within. No one stands untouched...

DYSTOPIAN TROPES OF BOOK II: THE EXODUS BOOK I TROPES BOOK III TROPES BOOK IV TROPES WANT TO KNOW MORE? CORE STRUCTURAL TROPES The Exodus Without a Promised Land Movement is necessary, not hopeful. There is no destination that improves moral conditions—only zones of different failure. Subversion: Exodus is loss-minimization, not deliverance. A dystopian novel series set in post-nuclear Canada

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
