MAKING THE TEASER TRAILER FOR THE DRIFT

The Drift trailer marks the tetralogy's turning point, shifting from centralized control to environmental forces. Unlike earlier teasers, this one embraces wind as a thematic spine, showing nature reclaiming the world. The film moves from rigid ritual to instinct and atmosphere, capturing a story where survival means orienting under pressure as the world pushes back.

MAKING THE EXODUS TEASER TRAILER

The Exodus teaser shifts from The Refusal’s containment to movement and exposure. It expands the world beyond the Stadium, using flooded zones like the Sump to show overflow and pressure. The Stadium intervenes not chaotically, while the trek to the Francon Quarry reveals the cost of freedom. Andy Will Pay embodies the burden of survival.

DESIGNING THE TRAILER

The team crafted a ninety-second trailer to convey the philosophy of The Refusal, using branching ink that mimics mycelial growth to symbolize quiet, structural power. Set in post‑nuclear Montreal, the trailer avoids explosions, instead highlighting infrastructure, ritual and systems that survive collapse. Characters appear under pressure, letting tone establish the visual language for the...

BISAC CATEGORIES

The series is classified under four BISAC categories in order of importance: FICTION/DYSTOPIAN as primary, emphasizing institutional antagonism and environments shaping behavior, followed by FICTION/SCIENCE FICTION/GENERAL, FICTION/POLITICAL, and FICTION/SOCIAL THEMES as supporting. These labels signal systemic oppression, speculative worldbuilding, governance structures, and human responses to...

WELCOME WARRIORS!

Welcome to Warriors of the Last Days This space is the threshold. You didn’t arrive here by accident. Warriors of the Last Days is a dystopian systems-fiction series set in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the ruins of a world that did not end in fire or prophecy, but in optimization. A future where infrastructure outlived belief, where survival became procedural, and where people learned—slowly...

RESO

RESO, a quantum computer that runs Montreal's Underground City, a 30‑kilometer network of tunnels linking metro stations, offices, and shops, optimizes space, resources, food, and population. It models risks and forces outcomes to combat decay and entropy. Because it is stochastic, its results are unpredictable, sometimes causing damage despite its protective intent in practice.

THE CAVERN

Beneath Montreal’s Saint‑Léonard borough lies the Caverne de Saint‑Léonard, a limestone cavern first found by a farmer in 1812 and later used as a Patriote hideout. Guided tours now lead visitors into cool, echoing passages that reveal a marine limestone record of ancient seas, reminding us that beneath every surface something older and patient persists.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
