LOCATIONS BOOK III: THE DRIFT

THE WESTERN HIGHWAYS
The crossroad of the old highways 15 and 20, now nicknamed the Whistler Road, are still the fastest way to get west, and the deadliest. Whistlers communicate only in eerie whistles and clicks; few who hear them survive.

ABANDONED LACHINE PLANT
A derelict industrial plant left to disrepair. It has become a refuge for all kinds of wildlife, including strange, tumours covered blue coyotes.

SENNEVILLE VILLAGE

LAC DES DEUX-MONTAGNES

BLUE BONNETS
A forest fill of Montreal melons, a species almost instinct, now mutated to protect itself, laying at the feet or the ruins of the ancient hippodrome.

ROSEMONT (CARVERS)
A village of cannibals in Rosemont. Una mostly witness from a distance but they are organised, clever and passionate about great food.

INCINERATOR
First seen as a beacon, it soon becomes a hazard: the atmosphere is full of swirling ash and there is a troubling presence hiding its its walls. One that does not like company.

PÈRE MARQUETTE PARK
A Park in the Rosemont area that hosts the Fence-Sitters. A group of people who solved the issue of decisions by never, ever making one, each in their own, individual ways. Shepherded by a young Carver boy, they are some of the most disturbing yet totally harmless factions in the Montreal wasteland.

FRANCON QUARRY RIM
Hidden within the ruins of eastern Montréal, Francon Quarry is a major wasteland settlement built into an abandoned limestone quarry. It offers something rare in the post-Collapse world: safety. Protected by sheer rock faces and fortified access points, it has become a vital crossroads for traders, scavengers, and wanderers. Markets bustle, rumours spread, and fortunes are made beneath its towering walls. For many, it represents hope; for others, the last place worth reaching.

THE SCAB
A desolated stretch of land between the Francon quarry and what used to be the residential area. This zone was heavily polluted before the Light, got even more polluted after the Fell. That toxic zone must be crossed to get the Pius-XII park.

ST-LÉONARD CAVE (PARK PIUS-XII)
The cave from Park Pius-XII is where Una was born and grew up, until she was taken by the Stadium. She is coming back home, having come to the realization that she needed to do something about the tyranny of the Stadium.

FRANCON FOREST
This heavily contaminated forest, South of Francon, covers most of the land between the Stadium and the quarry. That forest is contaminated by the Rot, radiations and a fungal infection that slowly destroys the trees.

THE STADIUM
Home of the Hive and Prester John and the religious system of control that terrorizes the island and is now slowly conquering every parcel of ground it contains.

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
