Warriors of the Last Days is not a single novel but an evolving saga set across the entire country of Canada, in each province and territory. This also includes teh St-Pierre and Miquelon islands, which are, technically, not Canadian but definitely very close to Newfoundland and will play a particular role in one novel (a prequel!).

DETAILED SYNOPSIS

The numbers used to live on screens. Now, they have teeth.

Inside a deteriorating house in a ruined Saskatoon, the walls are closing in long before the horizon changes.

Troy, a broken former finance executive, spends his days obsessively calculating water rations and clinging to the ghost of his lost status.

His wife, Jenny, once a highly curated trophy partner, has been forced into a fierce, unblinking pragmatism, managing the house with a cold clarity while trying not to drown in the bitter, silent warfare of their dying marriage.

Down the hall, their teenage son, Liam, frantically logs empty radio frequencies to drown out their arguments, while eleven-year-old Clara retreats to the garden, feeding worms to a heavy, lead-veined insect she treats like a pet and calls Pewter.

Then, on a Tuesday morning at exactly 11:14 AM, the howling prairie gales cut out entirely.

In the suffocating stillness, a kilometres-wide wall of absolute darkness surges over the northern bluffs. It is a compounding, multi-million-bodied horde of mutated, semi-metallic locusts, insects with lead veining the chitin, making them nearly indestructible, and driven by a single, rolling collective mind that shaves the landscape to the bone.

As the windows shatter inward and the heavy carapaces begin to chew through the drywall, the family’s domestic fronts completely shatter.

To survive the night, they must get through a visceral, zero-sum war of pure survival.

DETAILED SYNOPSIS

Thirty years after the Light, the Yukon sky turned green on the eve of Christmas. Then, the dead woke up.

Three decades of isolation have turned Dawson City into a hard, stubborn relic of the old world.

Inside the Sourdough Saloon, before Christmas, the town handles a different kind of crisis: a lack of survivors and the end of any postal service have left the legendary sourtoe jar completely empty, threatening to kill a century-old Klondike tradition.

Edouard Marsh, a meticulous local who long ago sacrificed his own digit to the jar, can only watch as the frontier loses another piece of its history.

But the Yukon isn’t done with them yet.

Since he lost his toe to a wolverine, Edward has been plagued with phantom limb syndrome that acts up usually before bad storms, which is more often than not. But today, today, something is up. It never hurt so much…

That night, a freak atmospheric event unleashes a violent aurora borealis across the northern territory. The energetic green sky ionizes the air, activating thirty years of accumulated radioactive fallout packed deep inside the Yukon Orders of Pioneers (YOOP) cemetery.

Out of the shattered permafrost rise The Frozen Damned, brittle, freezer-burned ghouls from 1898 with wood-bark skin and muscle dense as cured leather. Driven by a chemical, heat-seeking aggression, they swarm the settlement in a desperate hunt for living thermal energy and moisture. Warm blood will do just fine.

To survive the night, Dawson City must wage a visceral, all-night war with axes and fuel-oil fires against a horde that doesn’t bleed and does not behave like traditional zombies. Because of course they don’t.  This is the Yukon.

But when the green sky fades and the living stand among mountains of shattered, frozen carapaces, Edouard realizes the battle is only the beginning.

Because a true Klondiker never lets a resource go to waste.

Each book represents another station along the route, another step deeper into the world that emerged after the collapse. Some stations are already lit. Others are still under construction. A few exist only as distant points on the map. All are slowly evolving.

Think of this page as the control board of the archive. It shows what has already been recovered and recorded, what is being assembled now, and what still remains to be built.

If you follow the series, this is the place to check the signal, where we are at on the map. Where we are headed. Where the next micro-climate will get you.

The first four volumes of the first story arc are set in Montreal, Quebec.

The next story, set in the islands of St-Pierre & Miquelon (technically part of France but very close to Newfoundland – they will definitely affect us after the Light…), is already in progress as well as Death Row, another single novel, more action focused, set in a Maximum Security Prison in Ontario.

Currently being outlined are COLD STORAGE (set in Yukon) and THE FRONT (a terrifying and poignant post-apocalyptic horror story set in Saskatchewan).

Further volumes, including individual short stories, will be set all across Canada. Two short stories set in Manitoba are already out (TOWING THE LINE (stand alone) and FLIN FLON’S HOLE (now a tryptic that includes THE EXPECTED and THE SUNLESS CITY). A new story becomes available every month to our newsletter subscribers.

All next three years of short stories are already written and will automatically be released monthly.

As more novels add to the series, they will be added to this page so that you may track their individual progress as well. When a short story is attached to a novel, it appears here with a progress bar. Once completed, the status changes, the progress bar disappear and it becomes a link directly to the story on the website. Same when a book has launched: status changed to single line, link to the book page.
