Exclusive First Look COVER REVEAL
Book I: The Refusal
I’ve been sitting on this cover reveal for a while now, and I’ll be honest, it’s been hard to keep quiet about it.
Warriors of the Last Days started as a question I couldn’t shake: what happens to ordinary people when everything collapses at once? Not just governments or infrastructure, but the assumptions we live by: that tomorrow will come, that there are people in charge who know what they’re doing, that the world has some basic logic to it.
Book I: The Refusal is where that question starts getting answered. And the cover reveal, I think, captures the feeling of the book better than I could have described it myself.

What You’re Looking At
The scene on the cover reveal is a flooded tunnel. A young woman wading forward, backpack on, not looking back. Ahead of her, something that should not exist: a two-headed creature with red eyes, rising out of the water.
I wanted something that felt real, not stylized, not softened. The world in this book is dark. The tunnel, the water, the dim industrial lights: that’s what life looks like now for the people in this story. This is a scene from the book. Not the most spectacular or the most representative, but a singular moment nevertheless.
And the creature? The mutations in this world are not just metaphors. They’re what happens when the environment gets poisoned and life keeps adapting anyway, indifferent to whether the result is something humans can live alongside.
A Little About the Book
The Refusal opens in a military bunker, in the last minutes before a catastrophic launch order is carried out. Two officers. A console. A command that reads EXECUTE. The story doesn’t flinch from that moment: it sits in it, and then it follows the consequences outward.
From there, we follow survivors, people who were not soldiers, not prepared, not special, trying to figure out how to live in what’s left. The title, The Refusal, refers to something very specific that happens in the story, but it also names something broader: the refusal to accept that this is simply how things end.
This is the first book in a series. I’m already deep into Book II. Cover reveal very soon!
Who This Book Is For
If you’ve ever read something like The Road, Metro 2033, or Station Eleven and found yourself thinking about it for days afterward, this series is probably for you. It’s not light reading. It doesn’t wrap things up neatly. But it takes its characters seriously, and it takes the reader seriously too.
I wrote the kind of book I wanted to read and couldn’t find. I hope it lands for you the same way.
Where to Follow Along
Release details and updates are at warriorsofthelastdays.com. I’ll be posting there as things develop: release date, preorder info, and more from the world of the series.
Thanks for taking the time to look. More soon.

Final COVER REVEAL
We ended up with a different, final cover that better represents the novel. We learned a lot about making covers on this journey! We shall talk more about this when we cover reveal Book II!

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
