THE SPARK
ADVANCE READER COPY: THE SPARK
Una and Andy find each other again at the edge of Montreal Island, each with their own reason to destroy the Stadium.
For Una, it's the psionic force that has enslaved the island's population. For Andy, it's personal, and has been since the glastorm in Book II: The Exodus.
They enter the Stadium wrapped in cloaks sewn with stones from Una's cave. The stones are crude deflectors against the psionic field. They're guided by Patch, a Grafter whose skin has been rebuilt so often it no longer looks entirely human. Patch is an Ember from deep inside the Stadium's invisible workforce.
Outside, Vance stages the revolution he has spent years building.
But what they find inside is not what they came for.
The Spark is the fourth and final book in the Montreal portion of the Warriors of the Last Days series, a post-nuclear dystopian series set in Canada where the enemy was never a person but always a procedure. And procedures can be dismantled.

The Spark Comparables: literary post-apocalyptic fiction with procedural dread, systemic horror, strong ecological horror, and restrained prose: readers of Cormac McCarthy, Emily St. John Mandel, and Paul Tremblay.

Stéphane Roy is a lifelong reader and writer with a deep love for science fiction, apocalyptic worlds, and tightly constructed mysteries. This is his first novel. He lives in the Yukon with his dog and his aquarium, where long winters, silence, and wide, sometimes glowing, skies leave plenty of room for imagining the end of the world, and what might come after it. He is also waiting, with cautious optimism, for the aliens to finally reveal themselves and straighten us all out.
